Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at azaniadiversity@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

CPD stands for Continuing Professional Development. Professionals like psychologists, social workers, and counsellors in South Africa are required by law to earn CPD points to maintain their registration with professional boards. Azania Diversity offers CPD-accredited workshops that allow you to meet these requirements while learning how to support and affirm LGBTIQ+ individuals in your professional work.

The Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) is the regulatory body for healthcare professionals such as psychologists, counsellors, and doctors. The HPCSA ensures professionals remain competent and ethical by requiring ongoing CPD training. Azania Diversity’s workshops are aligned with HPCSA expectations and help practitioners better serve queer and gender-diverse clients with cultural sensitivity and care.

The South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP) oversees social workers, social auxiliary workers, and child and youth care workers. Registered professionals need to complete CPD training to stay compliant. Our CPD pending LGBTI+ workshops provide meaningful, evidence-based content to help social service professionals support LGBTI clients in a respectful, informed, and African-centred way.

Despite South Africa’s progressive constitution, LGBTIQ+ people still face discrimination, violence, and unequal access to services. Training professionals to understand sexual orientation, gender identity and expression (SOGIE) is essential for building truly inclusive workplaces, schools, and healthcare settings. Azania Diversity workshops go beyond generic content by sharing real African queer and trans stories, creating space for deeper understanding and transformation.

General diversity training often skips over the specific needs of queer and trans people. Our CPD-accredited workshops are designed to fill that gap. You’ll gain tools and insights that are culturally relevant, evidence-based, and grounded in African experiences of gender and sexuality—all while earning CPD points recognised by professional councils like HPCSA and SACSSP.

We’re proudly Black-owned, queer-led, and deeply committed to decolonising LGBTIQA+ education. As a team of health care professional in hospitals and social services our content is tailored to reflect the realities of African queer and trans communities, rather than relying on generic Western frameworks. This matters because our experiences, languages, and histories are unique—and deserve to be honoured in how we teach, care, and advocate.

Your workshop fees directly support the voices of African queer activists in LGBTI training and community advocacy.
